About

I take the title “Situationniste” from a radical leftist group founded by Guy Debord, L’International Situationniste. Debord was a filmmaker and a philosopher concerned with political resistance in the modern age, an age characterized by spectacle. Debord’s work is part of the corpus of “everyday life” theory, along with others including Michel de Certeau, Henri Lefebvre, and Walter Benjamin. I am interested in everyday life, in both the mundane and the marvelous events that come together to create it. I don’t mean for this to be a literary blog or an online diary. My intention is really just to reconstruct some of those everyday moments, to seize on both the little and the big things that jump out at me, whether they be thoughts or events or random discoveries.

I like feedback and conversation — so if you are reading, please feel free to post comments. I want to hear what you have to say too.
